Day 1: City Tour Transfer – Volcanoes National Park
In the early morning, you will be picked up by our company tour guide who will take you on a tour of Kigali city, visiting the local market, craft shops, genocide memorial site, and then drive to Volcanoes National Park, taking you through the beautiful Volcanoes National Park scenery and Home of the mountain gorillas on a guided tour.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking and Cultural Visit
After breakfast, you’ll head to the park headquarters with a packed lunch in time to learn about the gorilla code of conduct. Then enter the forest to look for the gorillas in the forest, which may take 2-6 hours depending on the activity of the gorillas in the jungle. Meet and stay with the gorillas for up to an hour. Join a community walk of the Banyarwanda people, enjoy their various performances and learn about their unique culture.
Day 3: Golden Monkey Trek – Dian Fossey Trek – Transfer to Lake Kivu
Enjoy an early morning breakfast before heading to the park headquarters to trek the golden monkeys with other primates in the forest. You can also hike to the Karisoke Research Centre and visit Dian Fossey’s grave. Along the way you may encounter some primates such as black and white colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys, L’hoests monkeys and some birds, which were taken behind Lake Kivu.
Day 4: Transfer to Kigali and leave.
After breakfast, take a boat tour to the various islands of Lake Kivu, then transfer to the airport for your flight.
